Warisu
Oyesina Alli, a graduate of the Kiev State University, Kiev,
Ukraine, was until recently, a Professor of Political Science at the
Department of Political Science, University of Jos, Jos, where has
lectured for two and half decades. During this period, he has taught
at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
Over the
years, he has served and chaired several departmental, faculty and
university committees. He was also a member of the University
Senate. He has had wide ranging administrative experience having
been appointed Head of the Department of Political Science several
times and was also the Acting Dean of the Faculty of Social Science
from 1990 to 1992. He was also one time Director of Research for the
African Centre for Democratic Governance. He has also held high
level executive positions in several professional associations
including the Nigerian Political Science Association (NPSA), the
Nigerian Society of International Affairs, (NSIA), the American
Studies Association of Nigeria (ASAN) among others.
A very
active scholar, social activist and political analyst, Professor
Alli has lectured in major Nigerian Institutions and Think Tanks and
has featured prominently in several national and international
conferences, academic exchanges and research projects. He has served
as External Examiner for more than a dozen universities and other
tertiary institutions, and was also member of Scientific Committee
for the African Centre for Democratic Governance. He is a recipient
of the Social Science Academy of Nigeria (SSAN) fellowship and the
International Visitors Programme of the USAID among others.
Alli has
edited and co-edited books and articles, and has contributed papers
to several learned journals and peer-reviewed books.
