LIBRARY COLLECTION
The
collection is mainly in the field of the social sciences and the
library has an excellent collection of basic materials on the United
Nations, the World Bank and other international organizations,
international treaties and conventions and important documents of
foreign governments, etc. The library received from time to time
book donations from Britain, United States, Japan and some African
countries just to mention a few. Particular emphasis is placed on
the acquisition of materials in the following areas.

Comparative government and policies, political science and
administration.

History (Primarily post (1875).

International law, comparative law, legal studies of individual
countries of the world.

Environment.
-
Women
Studies
-
International trade and finance
-
Economic development and planning with particular emphasis on
underdeveloped areas.

Political sociology and social change.
-
Military science, peace and disarmament.
In all
the above subject areas, priority is given to the acquisition of
resources on African countries and organizations.
A special
feature of the Collection is the Press library located on the first
floor of the building. This collection consists of Newspaper
clippings from Nigerian and foreign newspapers, conference/papers,
pamphlets etc. on a wide range of domestic and foreign subjects.
The
library is a depository for United Nations, World Bank, African
Union, ECOWAS publications and also a depository for all agreements
and treaties entered into by Nigeria.
The
library has an audio-visual achieve consisting of tapes derived from
library Oral Documentation Project.
